Introduction

The Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation (MTI) Programme, launched by Nanyang Technological University in January 2016, is the first Master’s degree programme in the field with a focus on English and Chinese in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The Programme is specifically designed to provide students with high standard professional training in translation and interpretation between the two languages, to equip them with adequate knowledge of cutting-edge theories in related fields, and to give them a thorough understanding of the theories and practice in different social and cultural contexts. It is the goal of the MTI Programme that its graduates will be well-prepared to take a leading role in providing highly professional services in public and private sectors and in improving the overall proficiency of translation-related professions in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.
